Binational (Canada-USA) 9-minute synchronized midnight fireworks launched from within the Niagara Gorge between the American and Canadian Horseshoe Falls, plus an 8 PM family fireworks show and an 8 PM special Falls illumination. Free. Part of the Winter Festival of Lights (annually mid-Nov to Jan 4). This is a very stable annual event; the specific 2026-27 dates/programme are typically published in fall 2026.

The premier free spot - front-row, unobstructed views of the Falls and the gorge launch. Stake out the main grassy area or the parapet wall along the parkway.

Sightline: Directly faces the Horseshoe Falls and the gorge between the falls where the fireworks launch; also sees the Canadian-side laser light shows in the Queen Victoria event field.

⚠️ Extreme cold and wind off the gorge; very large crowds and full road closures. Paid parking nearby fills early.

Skylon Tower (observation deck / revolving dining room)

A heated, aerial vantage ~775 ft above the Falls - the warm option for winter. Book the revolving dining room or NYE dinner for a seated view.

Sightline: Panoramic elevated view over both the American and Horseshoe Falls and the gorge launch line.

⚠️ Dinner reservations required well ahead; observation deck can be busy. Glass reflections at night.

Table Rock Centre / Table Rock House Restaurant

Right at the brink of the Horseshoe Falls - closest to the mist and illumination. The centre stays open until midnight as a warm-up spot; book the restaurant for a window view.

Sightline: At the Horseshoe brink looking down the gorge toward the launch and the American Falls beyond.

⚠️ Heavy mist/spray and cold near the brink; outdoor spots are exposed. Restaurant windows book out.

Prospect Point, Niagara Falls State Park (US side)

The US-side vantage: cross into Niagara Falls State Park for the same binational midnight show from the American shore, typically with smaller crowds than the Canadian side.

Sightline: Faces across the gorge and river toward the launch line and the Canadian Horseshoe Falls; the adjacent Observation Tower extends over the gorge.

⚠️ US side; bring a passport for border crossing. Colder, exposed river edge; some overlooks angle away from parts of the display.

Weather & Visibility

High risk — Deep winter: temperatures roughly -4C to 5C, with wind, snow and rain possible in one night. High winds can postpone or cancel the fireworks (call 1-877-642-7275 for cancellation status).

Safety & Crowds

Cold-exposure is the main risk - dress in heavy layers, hats, gloves. Niagara Parkway between Clifton Hill and Fraser Hill closes to vehicles from ~7 PM (full closure 8 PM), reopening ~1 AM. Designate a meeting point in the crowds.

Getting There

WEGO bus and the Falls Incline Railway run until ~1 AM; GO Transit serves Niagara Falls station from the GTA. Park by 8:30 PM; Rapidsview lot ($10) offers a shuttle to Table Rock.

New Year's Day (Jan 1)

Winter Festival of Lights and illuminated Falls continue into early January (through ~Jan 4); many attractions keep holiday hours on Jan 1.
