Show date: Friday, July 3, 2026 ·
Show time: 9:15 PM (approximate)
Portsmouth traditionally fires on JULY 3, not July 4 — launched at South Mill Pond (across from City Hall), NOT a Piscataqua River barge. 2025 show was July 3 at 9:15 p.m. with music/games at Leary Field 7–9 p.m., sponsored by Wilcox Industries; rain date July 5. 2026 date expected July 3 but reconfirm (the city had noted future funding was uncertain before the Wilcox sponsorship). Parking ban on ~two dozen streets from noon; South Mill Pond playground closed July 3–5.

Leary Field
High crowd · park · Free
This is the official event hub — arrive for the 7 p.m. DJ and lawn games (cornhole) on Parrott/Junkins Ave; it's the closest legal vantage to the South Mill Pond launch. No sparklers or personal fireworks allowed on the field. Parrott Ave closes to cars at 7 p.m., so walk in or use a garage well before then. Show type: unconfirmed — verify before attending.
Memorial Bridge / Strawbery Banke area
Medium crowd · park · Free
Downtown waterfront vantage with open sky toward South Mill Pond; combine with the Market Square 'Summer in the Street' walkable scene. Skip downtown garages that fill early — park along Islington St further out and walk in, since the core streets are under a parking ban from noon. Show type: unconfirmed — verify before attending.
Pierce Island
Low crowd · park · Free
Quieter riverside spot popular with paddlers — local SUP/kayak tours stage sunset paddles here and you may also catch private fireworks off Pierce Island, Badger's Island and Kittery. Any watercraft on the water after dusk must carry working lights. Show type: unconfirmed — verify before attending.
