Maine East High School Parking Lot (Dempster St side)
Low crowd · Arrive by 9:00 PM · park · Free
The East Maine High School parking lot on the Dempster St side is the local insider's pick — wide open sightlines toward Hodges Park with almost none of the crowd that gathers at the park itself. Pull in, drop your chairs on the lot, and enjoy the show with neighbors. Free and easy exit after. Show type: unconfirmed — verify before attending.
Sightline: Face west-northwest toward Hodges Park from the east lot edge for the clearest view of the bursts.
Hodges Park (launch site)
High crowd · Arrive by 7:00 PM · park · Free
Hodges Park is the launch site and the main community gathering point — bring a blanket and arrive by 7 PM for the pre-show festivities. Up-close bursts overhead but expect a packed lawn and slow street parking. Greenview Ave and Hamlin Ave fill up fast; park on side streets a few blocks east and walk in. Show type: unconfirmed — verify before attending.
Sightline: You are directly under the launch — bursts are overhead and very close. No sightline issues.
⚠️ Parking on Prospect Ave and adjacent streets fills completely by 8 PM. Budget extra time to exit after the show — Greenview Ave backs up significantly.
Canfield Park
Low crowd · Arrive by 9:00 PM · park · Free
Canfield Park sits north of downtown Park Ridge and offers a quiet open-sky vantage with very few people. Bring your own chairs — no seating provided. A solid fallback if Hodges Park lots are full. Show type: unconfirmed — verify before attending.
Sightline: Face south toward Hodges Park; the show is about half a mile away so bursts will appear smaller but the sky is open.
Uptown Park Ridge (Summit Ave & Touhy Ave)
Medium crowd · Arrive by 7:30 PM · elevated · Free
The Uptown dining district fills up July 4 evening — grab dinner at one of the outdoor patios along Vine Ave or Summit Ave and stay for the show. Metra parking garage at Vine/Summit is free after 7 PM and gives a clean exit via the garage stairwell. Show type: unconfirmed — verify before attending.
Sightline: Face northwest from the Uptown intersection; taller buildings along Touhy can clip the lowest bursts but the upper shells are visible.
⚠️ Street parking in Uptown is metered and fills by 6 PM. Use the Metra garage.
⚠️ No confirmed launch site for this city. Viewing spots shown are approximate.
