Weather & Visibility

Low risk — Southern-Hemisphere summer; generally warm and clear, but high winds have cancelled the 9pm show in the past (e.g. 2002).

Safety & Crowds

Official fenced/managed vantage points only. Sites fill by mid-morning; do not travel once City of Sydney declares vantage points full.

Getting There

Use public transport; extensive road closures from early morning. Extra trains/buses/light rail; light rail to south-east from Central only after 7pm.

Alcohol

Mixed — some sites licensed with bars, some alcohol-free/family sites, some allow BYO. Check per-vantage-point rules.

New Year's Day (Jan 1)

Public transport runs on a Sunday/holiday timetable; central road closures clear early Jan 1.
