Kailua Pier / Ahu'ena Heiau (75-5660 Palani Rd)
High crowd · Arrive by 6:00 PM · park · Free
The pier is the natural gathering point with benches, a small park, and a direct sightline across the bay to the barge. Arrive before the 6 p.m. parade to claim seawall space, since the same crowd stays for the 8 p.m. show. Bonus: the restored Ahu'ena Heiau (Kamehameha's residence) is right at the pier's edge. Show type: unconfirmed — verify before attending.
Ali'i Drive seawall (oceanfront restaurants)
High crowd · park · Free
Grab a table with bay views at Kai Eats & Drinks, Fish Hopper (2nd-floor lanai), or Temple Bar — locals name these as the vantage points that combine food/drinks with the show. Reserve well ahead; the parade passes right in front so you get both events from one seat. Show type: unconfirmed — verify before attending.
Royal Kona Resort waterfront (end of parade route)
Medium crowd · park · Free
The parade ends near the Royal Kona Resort, and its oceanfront lawn/terrace gives an open southward bay view of the barge with thinner crowds than the pier. Walk south along Ali'i Drive after the parade to escape the densest pier crush. Show type: unconfirmed — verify before attending.
