Confirmed — The 2026 Diwali programme for Leicester has been officially announced.
Light Show / Projection · Europe/London
Largest Diwali outside India, on the Golden Mile (Belgrave Road). For 2026 the council confirmed NO public fireworks display and no ceremonial switch-on; more than 6,000 festive lights line Belgrave Road with the 110-foot Wheel of Light returning, and some activities return to Cossington Park. Lights are switched on without ceremony ~2 weeks before Diwali Day. Fireworks and stage shows were removed in 2024/2025 after record ~50,000 crowds and several near-crush incidents (Safety Advisory Group; Martyn's Law).
