Normandale Lake – East & South Shoreline Path
High crowd · Arrive by 5:00 PM · waterfront · Free
Best water-reflection seat in the south metro: shells launch from Chalet Road on the WEST shore and burst over the 179-acre lake, doubling in the water. Stand on the east/south paved shoreline path and face WEST across the open water — nothing but lake between you and the launch, so even low bursts reflect cleanly. FLAG: FRIDAY, JULY 3, 2026, dusk (~10 p.m.), NOT July 4. Arrive by 5 p.m.; free office-park ramp parking. Show type: fireworks.

Elevation play with a built-in fast exit. The top deck of the 8500 Tower ramp sits a few stories above the lawn; face SOUTH-SOUTHWEST over the lake toward Chalet Road/Hyland ski jump. The elevated angle clears the lawn-level crowds and treeline for an unobstructed look at the high 10-inch shells, plus you're already in your car for departure (notoriously slow from the lawn). FLAG: FRIDAY, JULY 3, 2026, ~10 p.m. Free; arrive by 6 p.m. as decks fill. Show type: fireworks.

Mall of America Hotels: Radisson Blu & JW Marriott
Low crowd · hotel room · Paid
FLAG — DOES NOT FACE THE LAUNCH: both MOA hotels sit ~5 miles EAST-NORTHEAST of the Normandale Lake launch, so Summer Fete fireworks (to the WEST/SW) are distant and largely blocked by intervening buildings; do NOT book these expecting a Summer Fete view. The JW Marriott's 15th-floor Concierge Lounge (Marriott Bonvoy Platinum/Titanium/Ambassador only) does have sweeping Twin Cities views and can catch distant displays, and these are the best base for the July 4 weekend if you want MOA access. Show type: fireworks.
Sightline: ~5 mi E/NE of Normandale Lake launch. FLAG: does NOT face the Summer Fete launch — intervening buildings largely block the view. JW Marriott 15th-floor Concierge Lounge (Platinum/Titanium/Ambassador) has sweeping Twin Cities views. Best as a July 4 MOA-area base, not Summer Fete viewing.
⚠️ FLAG: DOES NOT face Summer Fete launch — ~5 mi away and blocked by buildings. Do NOT book expecting a Summer Fete view. Concierge Lounge access requires Marriott Bonvoy Platinum/Titanium/Ambassador status.
Hampton Inn Minneapolis/Bloomington West (south-facing upper rooms)
Low crowd · hotel room · Paid
The launch-side hotel choice: located at I-494 & Normandale Blvd, roughly 0.8 mi NORTH of Normandale Lake — far closer to the launch than the MOA hotels. Request a HIGH-FLOOR, SOUTH-FACING room and look SOUTH toward the lake; the view is NOT guaranteed (the hotel does not designate fireworks-view rooms and office towers can interrupt sightlines), so plan to walk the 10-15 minutes to the lawn for the full show. Best used as a same-night base to avoid the parking exodus. FLAG: FRIDAY JULY 3 show, NOT July 4. Show type: fireworks.
Sightline: ~0.8 mi N of Normandale Lake at I-494 & Normandale Blvd. Request high-floor south-facing room — view NOT guaranteed (office towers can interrupt). Best used as same-night base to avoid post-show parking chaos.
